Shakespeare's thoughts on Obese, Overweight Men

Quote "Let me have men about me that are fat; Sleek-headed men and such as sleep o'nights; Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look; He thinks too much, such men are dangerous." Unquote

Caesar, an excerpt from "Julius Caesar"

William Shakespeare 1564-1616

You are undoubtedly conscious of the ultimate consequence of that legend as relates to "sleek-headed men, with lean and hungry looks"?
In today's world, overweight adults and children classified as obese would far outnumber the people exhibiting a lean and hungry look.

I dont have any documented proof that sleek-headed men, with lean and
hungry looks, are any additionally dangerous than tubby or obese men?

Nevertheless; in William Shakespeare's day, he would have accrued much worldly knowledge to that deed, to have included such in his legendary play; "Julius Caesar".

What do you think about William's famous quote if applied to the 21st Millenium?

My conclusions would be that Caesar could feel safer in one of our prosperous countries in the year 2008! Why? Perhaps he would largely (pun was not intentional) be in the company of mainly portly men, who could not be considered as projecting a "lean and hungry look"! In fact a man or woman possessing a "lean and hungry look" in modern society is increasingly turning into an inconsequential "crowd". In additon the way the developed nations are heading with excessive
food consumption and lack of exercise.......not looking good at all!

Thursday evening I visited our local shopping mall for a spot of late evening shopping. It was about 6 PM. I made myself comfy in my favourite cafe to order and enjoy a flat white...with 99% no fat milk of course! The crowds surged past. After a period of several minutes I found myself subconsciously counting the number of mildly overweight, to massively overweight shoppers strolling past with shopping carriers full of packages of heavily processed looking junk food! Sadly, these people generally greatly exceeded the "lean and hungry looking
passersby"!

Most trolley pushers had their kids hanging from the carriers. I
also observed that exceedingly, the average quantity of passing young kids also looked considerably well (over?) fed...or is that exceedingly chubby!

The parents equally displayed unsightly fatty folds in all directions.

I examined the coffee sippers around my coffee table and again I was
astonished at the unnaceptable percentage of fat men, women and young kids in such a small area! The fact was that a lot of the customers were tucking into big creamy coffees, to help wash down very tasty, sugary, mouth watering, enticing cakes; usually enjoyed with a large serving of cream on the plate!

I thought I must appear as if I could not have the money to purchase such tasty delectables. I was one of the few coffee sippers not howing down enormous quantities of additives, pure sugar and fat and; well you know what I mean. You get the idea..all those yummy delights that convert skinny men, women and children into overly large, chubby and in the end; "obese" people.

Please note, the point I am attempting to state is that this was at 6 PM on a week night! Most of these obese parents and young children were happily woofing down large quantities of "fat laden" looking junk food at a time when, obviously, these families should have been at
home serving their little "tubby" children some of the required "five vegies with fish". Not tucking into junk food in a coffee shop assisting their offspring into uneeded heart attacks, strokes, sugar diabetes two, any number of cancers and for a lot; into the disaster of "childhood obesity"!

The conclusion I would offer to these apparently irresponsible parents is as follows. Think carefully about the health and wellness of your kids. Prepare and present the little kids with a healthy and nutricious evening dinner. Parents are responsible for the health and well being of your children...no-one else. Substituting probably your child's most important; and perhaps their only home cooked meal of the day, with fast food or eat in junk food is hardly being a responsible
adult. Well, certainly not at 6 PM on a Thursday night!
