Step 1:
Your ex won’t come back to you if you force and push, so let them know you are happy to break up for now and apologize sincerely for what hurt you may have caused them. (Find out the best way to apologize here) Remember be strong during this stage. Don’t cry, beg, threaten or do anything of that nature. They will respect you for it.

Step 2:
During this time when you’re allowing your ex the space they need, now is the time to do some self-loving. If you haven’t been single for a long time, it is going to feel very scary and lonely BUT… this is important. The more scared you are the more you need to do this. Learn to be content and happy on your own. You won’t feel this kind of freedom once you’re back in a relationship so treasure it while it lasts. This is the time to get out and have some fun. Get a makeover, change your hair (just not too drastically that your ex won’t even recognise you), participate in some hobbies, go out on holidays with some friends. Find out about what YOU like while you’re on your own. The important thing is not to mop around the house missing your ex.

Step 3:
Slowly fall back into contact with your ex. Let them see you have remained sane through the break up and you’re handling it super well. If they are seeing someone new, don’t see anything bad about them, be happy for them. Take this as a chance to start dating yourself. You might even find someone who you like more than your ex.

Step 4:
This is the all important stage where you do those little subconscious hints that make your ex think about you and having a relationship with you. Remember these are subtle clues and NOT to be expressed in words. This includes nonchalantly touching your ex in a way that you used to touch them when you were together. This will subconsciously make them think they are back in a relationship with you.
