The launch of the .EU domain back in April 2006 was so popular, with reports saying that 2.6 million registrations were made in the first year. The .ME Top Level Domain has the potential to beat this by miles. Personal and company Blogs are so popular at the moment and can help increase page rankings. So you can see why having a domain such as joebloggs.me or joebloggscompany.me will have so much appeal. So make this note in your diary: "17/07/08 - register my .ME"

.ME History

Montenegro was assigned the ME country code after it gained independence in June 2006. In December that year they submitted an application for delegation of the .ME Top Level Domain. In September 2007 it was finally approved.

The Government of Montenegro acknowledged the potential of .ME and the worldwide appeal it would have. It was then decided .ME would be operated as a generic name space.

Why have a .ME domain?

.ME can be used for a personal website, such as a blog or family website. You can also involve your whole family by registering your surname and giving your relatives their own email addresses - joe@bloggs.me. Another option is to register your full name, making a perfect place for potential employers to view your CV.

Companies can also benefit from having a .ME, it gives you the chance to personalise your brands and products. .ME also has some great business and marketing potential such as domains like buy.me, date.me, fly.me.

.ME has proceeded through the sunrise and landrush stages and is available for open registration to everyone on the 17th July 2008.
