Over the years I have constantly been asked to supply other metaphysical items - primarily for the ever growing Wicca market. Wicca is the fastest growing religion in the world and although reliable demographics are hard to find, I would personally estimate that there are around 20 million Wiccans worldwide although many are still "in the broom closet" as it were :-)
Anyway - I did a bit of research and I discovered that the vast majority of websites serving this huge Wicca market are pretty abysmal! Amateur design, terrible navigation, confusing ordering systems...I was quite horrified!
So knowing a thing or 2 about web development, I finally took the plunge, sourced thousands of products for Wiccans and Pagans and created what I believe (without ego) is the best and easiest to use Wicca site available at the moment. OK - that is MY personal opinion but let's face it, only the customers know what they want and sales or lack thereof is the only benchmark as to good or bad a site is.
So what makes www.wicca-and-pagan-supplies.com better that the other Wicca sites? Well, although I am a web developer, I seldom create sites for other people. That is to say I don't make a living from selling my time and creating sites that may or may not be successful for others - I make a living from the success of my own websites! If I create a site that tanks - I don't eat! So I have spent countless hours studying what makes a site work and what doesn't.
My new Wicca site is very plain and simple. No flashy graphics, no movement or animations, no annoying sound effects... just a clean, easy navigable site that focuses on the products that Wiccans want, rather than myself or yet more Wicca propaganda (there is enough of that!) so although there is a forum and a blog providing Wicca information - that isn't the focal point of the site. The main thing is the Wicca store - visitors to my site aren't lured in with the false promise of free information, they know they are visiting an e-commerce site for Wiccans and that is what they get straight up front.
How successful will this site be? I don't know yet. It has only been open for a couple of weeks but all indications are looking good so it's possible that the true magick and witchcraft here is in sound design and sensible marketing.
