Dodies Cry!

This is a song about my sister that was murdered, I wrote it in 1998 and it is copy written. It was a poem and then I got inspired to turn it into a song.

"Dodies Cry"

Hard to believe it's your Birthday, 17 years have gone bye.
So many things I want to share with you and really hear a reply.
I know you listen when I pray, See your children grow day by day.
They know you Love them, how you tried to care for them but your life was taken away.
I must go on day bye day.

Sister I wanted to help, I was a child, I knew how you felt before that night. Dodies cries were loud and clear, no one could help her pain and fear.
Praying to God as death draws near, Dodies cry, know one could help, Dodies cry.

Looking back on the day they came to share with us your terrible fate, by a man who said, "I Love You", yet He put you in your grave.
The Lord says forgive him, that I must do, I won't forget the Sister I once knew.

With long hair of gold and eyes so blue, like a flower that just bloomed, this is how I remember you, Dodies cries were loud and clear, no one could help her pain and fear, Dodies cry, know one could help Dodies cry.

For now I go on seeing you as you were, in happy times not through the hurt, I do shed tears from time to time, longing to see that Sister of mine.
Without any tears, you don't have to cry, for there are no tears in Heavens bye and bye.

The Lord, He took you, there he will keep you, one day I know I too will greet you in Heavens Bye and Bye.
Now no one can ever hurt you, your tears are all dryed, God's Love will surround you because He heard Dodies cry.

I dedicate this to my Beautiful, older sister, I Love You Dodie!!!
Doris Marie Fox, "Dodie"

About me: Welcome, my name is Sherri Lynn Rakes and I have four children, two step children and two grand babies. We Live in Olive hill KY. My home town I was born and raised in is Ashland, KY. I sing and write songs, and do Marketing on line. In the year 1999 in mid September, I had a accident. I fell on concrete steps and hurt my neck, back and shoulders after my singing career and TV show was doing well. It put me down for a year and when I was getting better, I was in a car wreck in April 1,2001. I had incomplete tears in L5 and S1 in my lower back, whiplash for the second time. A man ran a red light at 65 miles per hour and T-Boned me in my drivers side door. I remember yelling, "Jesus help me, I was blessed to be alive. I was on thirteen different medications at one time and almost gave up. I never thought I would have a life again. I prayed and researched Vitamins so I could get better, I couldn't stand prescriptions anymore. I wasn't myself on them. The pain was unbelievable. God gave me hope and put wonderful people in my life Since then to help me. Since 2004, I am off all prescriptions, work, travel and enjoy my family once again. If you are experiencing any of the same things please don't give up. There is hope in Jesus and He will do the same for you. Vitamins and natural herbs can help, I am not saying all medications are bad. Pain pills, Muscle relaxers and Valium can destroy your life so please try other alternatives if possible, you see it everywhere on the news how people are letting it destroy there life because of addiction, I know, I was there once and I saw how it can become a problem. I still have Osteoporosis, Fibromyalgia and back problems along with pain every day, God helps me deal with it as well as Vitamins and Herbal Vitamins. Life well I am Loving It! Hang in there, there is hope and Love to see you through. Don't give up on your dreams even if you had to put them on hold for awhile. You may fail but you have to have failure before you have success. We all need more Inspiration in our lives!!!!! One Women who really inspired me not to give up on my dreams was Naomi Judd. She is from our home town in Ashland, KY and She helps our Community a lot. In 1998, Naomi helped collect can food to feed the hungry. I was talking to her and that is when she told me, "Love your Home town because it is where your roots are and never give up on your goals and dreams. Help others and you will be blessed. I have never forgot those words She told me. It was one of the things that kept me going when I got hurt. Naomi is a wonderful person and so are Her daughters. She gave me permission to sing "Love Can Build A Bridge". It is on my first tape I ever made. I have learned over the years the power of "Love Can Build A Bridge" and if you haven't read her book you need to, it is great. God Bless you Naomi Judd and thanks for the inspiration! I made a video of me singing this song and will have it on soon. God Bless Everyone! If you would like to work from Home, go to my Business links.
