The end of my first week in Chicago was approaching and I was really looking forward to the weekend. Some sightseeing, relaxing and of course some research on dropshipping. That research meant finding out the answers to several questions. What is dropshipping?, how to dropship, how to find dropshippers and how to use dropshipping to trade online.
I was not expecting the weekend to turn out so rewarding. Friday night is party night, not all hell for leather, but wind down and relax with friends and colleagues. A few quiet beers by the lake and then a ladies night changed all that.
I am not a party animal as a rule but enjoy the long haul to really enjoy and embrace a new city and a friendly country. The boys had arranged a few beers at a sports bar to watch the game. Baseball was not really my thing, being a cricket loving limey so I left them to it.
I was outside by the water and got chatting to a few girls all too young for me. But it was the accent thing and was I a Lord of this or that. All very pleasant, their guys turned up and took them away to some college reunion. So I was taking in the air and sitting by myself and as if right on cue, the Girls who Network appeared. Now these were middle aged ladies but they were out to party and were dressed to thrill. Not only were they good looking and intelligent they also had a sense of humour. They were all laughing all having a good time and sat close to me. One of their phones went off and as the noise level was pretty high no one heard it, so being a true gentleman told them one of the phones was ringing. Oh that is not my phone darling and with that another wail of laughter. They invited me to join them and I told them I was not Michael Caine.
We introduced ourselves and I said how I been stalking them and had the pleasure of listening to them twice already. Now to these ladies it really was business is pleasure and we love it. I said I was looking forward to their seminar if there was to one on the subject of small businesses. The main theme was how to take small business to market quickly and with relatively low cost.
The subject quickly got around to websites and how a home worker or business startup could get online with very few techie skills or knowledge. They all remembered how the techies, geeks and nerds had treated them and had been put off getting online as the costs seemed too high. Design costs, build costs, delivery times, software issues, domains and registration, hosting and email setup, security and fraud... The list went on and on, and with most techies nothing ever gets finished, there is always a new tool or software that they must have.
So the ladies banged their heads together and came up with, well nothing. Then a major and life changing moment for home workers who wanted to create and be in control of their own websites. A fantastic bit of luck and they were introduced to a new breakthrough on the internet that meant home workers could now choose from an exciting range of website opportunities. So what happened next? As you can see I was having a great time in Chicago and those ladies were real stars. My research style (luck) was unusual, but it was proving very fruitful and so far the whole trip had be a wonderful experience, one that I hoped I would recall many time in the future. I had to check out the site and all the features, it could be a real winner in the UK, as in the USA. One final chance encounter with the working women before returning to the UK an invigorated man.
